Seminyak after 5: Late night eats you won’t want to miss

Seminyak- one of my favourite spots in Bali. Full of hustle and bustle, great shops and most importantly- a incredible foodie scene. In late 2016 (which seems like forever ago) we came back to Seminyak and based most of our days around what we were going to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The brunch scene is crazy-good and the after 5 life is just as delicious. We were only here for 9 days, and between bouts of Bali belly we could only eat so much, but when we did we made it count. There are hundreds of incredible places to drink and eat (especially now that this list is almost 2 years old!), but these are a few of our favourites.

Happy eating!

BO$$MAN

One of the best burger joints in Seminyak. Next to super cool Sisterfields, BO$$MAN is a equally as cool hideout where you can get delicious burgers all day (and night) long. The fitout is industrial and oozes cool- think white tiles, neon, gold and concrete. Our picks are the cheeseburgers, chicken burgers and a side of fries (a must!). Their frappes are also delicious and perfect when the sun is out.

You can find BO$$MAN at Jl. Kayu Cendana no. 8 80361 Seminyak

Motel Mexicola

If you love Mexican food, bright colours, good music and a super fun vibe then this place is for you. Motel Mexicola is massive and is always super busy- when you visit here you will understand why. The interior is cheery, with plenty of cacti, cool furntiure and mexican everything. The staff are super helpful and even gave us tequila straight from the bottle as the night kicked on. When it comes to food the choices are endless- nachos, snacks, you name it, its sorted. We picked the ‘feed me’ style option- a selection of dishes served like a degustation. The price was great and we were happy with every meal. The sangria is also delicious and their churros- can I just say hello salted caramel sauce! This was the most fun we have ever had at dinner!

You can find Motel Mexicola at Jl Kayu Jati No 9, Petingenget Beach, Seminyak Bali. Be sure to book a table online.

Ultimo

Italian food lovers unite, you’re going to love this place. Ultimo has a stellar menu, with every option covered. Carb lovers will be excited to see ample pastas on the menu, while meat-eaters will be more than happy with perfectly cooked steaks. We were huge fans of their pizza and calzone, they are seriously huge and the pizza bases were thin and not stodgy. Be sure to book or be prepared to wait a while at the bar- this place gets super busy!

You can find Ultimo at Jl. Kayu Aya 104X Oberoi-Seminyak, Kuta, Bali

Batik

If you’re looking for a resturant that serves authentic Indonesian fare, with excellent service and great cocktails, then pop Batik on the list. Smack bang in the middle of Seminyak, this gem will have you fed for both lunch and dinner. We loved their Nasi Goreng (you can’t go wrong with a Nasi Goreng in Bali) and their range of curries. The menu may have changed since we visited, but if the service and personable staff was anything to go by, then its well worth a visit!

Ginger Moon

If you love food made to share, then pop Ginger Moon in your diary. Offering everything from modern Asian food to western fare, there’s bound to be something on the menu you like- they got me at Dumplings and plates of Half Moon Steamed Buns. When we were dining we overheard great things about the pizza, as well as their Gado Gado. Their Mother in Laws Chicken Curry also comes highly rated- if someones praising their mother in law then it’s worth trying I think!

kudeta

Ku De Ta

Uninterrupted ocean views, postcard perfect sunsets, 5 star food and a massive drinks list. Have I got your attention yet? Ku De Ta is an amazing restaurant and bar, right on the beach in the heart of Seminyak. The food is pricey but totally worth it- you can expect high quality meals, beautifully plated made with the best ingredients. There is a open aired restaurant on the ground floor where you can watch the sunset while you eat, or you can head upstairs to the Mejekawi restaurant where you can indulge in a 12 course tasting menu. If you are looking for a slightly more casual affair then head to the bar, where you can sip cocktails and wine all night long to the sound of crashing waves and funky house music.

You can find Ku De Ta at jl. kayu aya no. 9 Seminyak, Bali, 80361. Be sure to book a table via their website.

Chandi

Chandi was one of our favourite places to dine late at night in Seminyak- the food, service, interior- all fabulous. The food so good I didn’t even get photos- now that says something! Their red meats are sourced from home soil and fish and shellfish is locally sourced and caught fresh daily- so you know you are getting quality. We LOVED their Ceremonial Sate Tasting, a medley of 10/20 of Chandi’s Best Skewers with a selection of spicy sambals, rice, chillies and salads. One hell of a feed but damn tasty. They also make some mean Mojitos with a range of flavours on offer- best consumed by the pitcher.

mamasan

Mama San

If curry, delicious food and fresh produce are your thing, then you need to get to Mama San. This places gets busy very quickly, so I recommend making a booking before you attend. We made that mistake but were still looked after by the fabulous staff, having the option of dining in the mezzanine area in a more casual setting. I cant rave on about the food enough- some of our favourite dishes were the curries and their salt and pepper squid. Their drinks are equally as impressive- if your a gin lover then you won’t want to leave the bar.

You can find Mama San at Jl. Raya Kerobokan No.135, Seminyak 80361 Kerobokan

Hanks Pizza and Liqour

Our new favourite dinner joint in Seminyak. Hanks has a cool vibe, serves delicious and cripsy pizza and cold beers and ciders all night. Sounds perfect? It is! If pizza isn’t your thing then you can devour some pasta or a range of their tasty and cheap bar snacks. On some nights they have live music, but when they don’t you can expect to hear Indie and rock tunes all night long. We wish we found this place earlier- this reminded us of a good boutique bar at home (we just wish we could have taken it back with us!)

You can find Hanks Pizza and Liqour at Jl. Kaya Aya no. 27x 80361 Seminyak

La Plancha

Tapas on the beach, YES PLEASE! La Plancha is on Seminyak beach and is easily spotted with its array of colourful beanbags and umbrellas sprawled out the front. They serve mostly Spanish tapas, with plenty of options to keep everyone happy. We snacked on salt and pepper squid, mini sliders and grilled chicken and we were not disappointed. The best bet is to get to this joint late afternoon, grab a drink and some snacks and nestle into a bean bag where you can see some of the best sunset views. Be sure to bring the camera!

You can find La Plancha at Jl. Dhyana Pura Seminyak Kuta-Bali Benoa Kuta

Home to the cutest vintage gypsy caravans, shady nooks and brilliant drinks list. If you’re looking for the perfect Instagram photo spot, somewhere to rest those tired legs after walking on the beach or somewhere to bunker down and watch the sunset- this is your place. With tapas and delicious food on offer, as well as hosting various events and parties, you’ll find your visit turning from a few hours to a full day. On Sunday’s they also host a market, with local organic produce, artisan goods and homegrown items, along with kids attractions and live music. I wish we didn’t discover this place at the end of our trip!

Char Char Bar and Grill

The ultimate bar to go people watching! We stopped here initially because we were so intrigued by the look of the bar. It’s open aired and looks out onto the street, and it is like sitting on a giant staircase. There’s plenty of greenery hanging above from huge vertical gardens and further inside the building is a beautiful restaurant. We didn’t eat here but indulged in a few drinks- there cocktails are super fun and damn tasty!

You can find Char Char Bar and Grill at Jalan Kayu Aya, Kayu Aya Street, Seminyak, Kuta, Bali, Seminyak

The Library

Breakfast. Brunch. Lunch. Dinner. The Library covers it all. A super cool vibe and a sense of home is what this place dishes out, with a ridiculously long menu all at reasonable prices. The interior is fun and cheery, with their staff also matching the same vibe. There’s outside and inside seating, as well as a cool mezzanine level to escape the craziness of eat street. At night you’ll find the place lit up by candles, with a moody and cozy feel- the perfect place for a relaxed dinner or a sneaky night cap.

You can find The Library at Kayu Aya Street, Oberoi, Seminyak,
