Tealicious Cakes

Calling all sweet tooths, there’s a new place on the Fleurieu Peninsula that is what your dessert dreams are made of.

It’s girly, it’s sugar filled and it’s absolutely delicious.

And it’s called Tealicious Cakes.

Located just off of the main drag in Willunga on Aldinga Road, Tealicious Cakes is a cute and quaint little cake shop and tea house, serving all things sweet and very tasty. Natasha, known as the cake queen this side of town, makes cupcakes, biscuits, scones and loads of other goodies in her onsite kitchen for you to devour.

The inside of the shop is very girly and reminded me of a cafe in England where we had high tea many moons ago. Pastel pink and white don the walls, there’s comfy upholstered chairs, marble tables, silver mirrors on the walls and grand sparkling chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Tea is served in china cups, making you feel oh so royal. You’ll want to drink with your pinkie out and all.

Tea is from local tea company The Dandy Tea Co. With all the blends you could dream of, and options from The Queen Breakfast to Peppermint and Lemongrass and Ginger, they have you well and truly covered. Coffee is again kept local, with Villere from McLaren Vale running through the machines.

As this is our local we’ve visited a few times now so I can confirm the cupcakes are FABULOUS. The cakes are moist, full of flavour and have got ample icing on top (nothing worse than skint icing). You’ll be overwhelmed with flavour choices like Carrot Cake, Sticky Date Pudding, Oreo and even Mars Bar.

My all time favourites are the Peanut Butter and Mint Chocolate- the peanut butter reminded of Reeces Pieces (oh yes please) and the Mint Chocolate was oh-so-minty- absolute heaven for mint lovers like me!

If cupcakes aren’t your jam (I’m not here to judge), then their cookies and super fluffy scones are to die for. Their Melting Moments literally melt in your mouth and are filled with the most sweetest, creamiest filling. I’m just looking for an excuse to buy them in bulk.

If you are after something a little more substantial then check out their weekend high tea. You can expect tiers of mini cakes, sandwiches and little pastries, just be sure to book it in advance. I am yet to dabble in it, but it seems like the perfect excuse for a girly weekend or visit with mum.

Natasha also makes cakes, biscuits and sweets to order, and let me tell you, she’s quite the cake wizard.

You can find Tealicious Cakes at 12 Aldinga Road, Willunga.
