Lampshade Coffee Lounge

In the burbs and looking for somewhere to stop for a top notch brew?

Lampshade Coffee Lounge has you covered.

Lampshade is a hidden gem, tucked away from the hustle and bustle in Warradale. It’s a bright and airy shopfront-turned-café, filled to the brim with retro and antique furniture. You’ll find anything from world maps to old metal toys on display, as well as indoor plants, slide viewers and plenty of books. The record player spins away in the background as owner Chris mans his immaculate La Marzocco coffee machine. This man is passionate about coffee, and its evident through every one he makes.

This café has been open just over 2 years now, but has that corner store feel like it has been here for the last 20. It gives off real feel-good-vibes and has a real sense of community- everyone seems to know each other on a first name, or first type-of-coffee order basis. I’m certainly not a local, but when my partner and I visited we were made to feel right at home.

I’ve come here a few times now, and on each occasion it’s made me wish it could transport its doors further down the hill. The coffee here is good, I’m talking real good. They use my favourite Dawn Patrol Coffee beans, roasted in Kangarilla, as well as milk from the Fleurieu Milk Company. Talk about a brilliant combo.

If you’re looking for something to line the stomach, you’ll find they have an small but inviting menu on offer. There’s brekky/brunch options of toasties, homemade sweets, B.R.A.T’s (bacon, rocket, avo and tomato relish sandwiches) and baked eggs- when the food is so tasty you don’t need many options.

Vegos are also covered, with a range of ridiculously tasty vegetarian toasties on offer- you got me at haloumi and sweet potato! If you’re not into coffee, there’s also sodas, milkshakes, teas and smoothies to keep you satisfied. Their Fruit Bat is sweet and filled with local yogurt, and is now my go-to when I don’t want caffeine.

If you’re after a quaint café, with good old fashion service with a side of strong coffee then pop on in.

Your takeaway will no doubt turn into a dine-in.

You can find Lampshade Coffee Lounge at 78 Byre Avenue, Warradale
