The Ultimate Clare B&B- Bed In A Shed Too

Headed to the Clare Valley and looking for a boutique bed and breakfast to cozy up in? Or somewhere that can fit the whole family or another couple, without having to hire a massive house or separate cabins? Well I’ve got the place for you.

Bed in a Shed Too

We stayed in this quirky and eclectic cottage for only one night, and to be honest, it was not long enough. As soon as we pulled into the driveway we felt at home- a personalised sign greeting us above the door, welcoming us to our humble abode for the next 18 or so hours.

There really isn’t anything not to love about this place. It’s designed by Andrew, a Clare Valley artist who lives on the plot next door. As soon as you walk in the door its evident that the place is designed by someone with creative flair and a good sense of humour. Colourful paint adorns the floor, recycled timber paneling on the walls and roof and hilarious sayings and clever puns dotted around the place (we had so much fun looking for them all).

The ‘shed’ has three bedrooms- one main bedroom with a plush queen sized bed looking out into the gardens and the resident goat and chooks, another room housing a double bed and a single bed tucked towards the back. It’s the perfect combo for those with a family or wanting to explore the Valley with another couple- you’ll just find yourself playing rock-paper-scizzors over who gets the main bedroom. It’s worth fighting for. All the rooms are filled with electric blankets and plenty of personal touches- even Cat in the Hat books sit on the shelf for the kids to read before they rest their head. When the warmer weather hits then you can take advantage of the outdoor space- there’s BBQ facilities and a outdoor firepit, making it the perfect place to eat dinner and take in the incredible valley sunsets.

The bathroom was another gem- a super powerful shower (this is a huge tick for me), clean and modern and again very thoughtful touches. They had everything covered from makeup wipes, a sewing kit and Sukin shower products all waiting to be used.

My absolute favourite part of the shed however has to be the kitchen/living area. MY LORD, it’s impressive. Cosy couches, loads of colour, a glorious view looking out to the trees and vineyards and a brilliant log fire. Seriously, a proper wood fire just makes a place, and this was the jewel in the crown. Another brilliant addition, and other half half’s favourite bit, was the big old school record player. It got quite the work out while we were there, and a mini dance party may have been had around the fire before we went out (truth, it was just a solo dance party).

Now as for the bed and breakfast side of things, you’re again going to have to nominate who cooks brekky as the beds are pretty damn comfortable (Sealy pillowtops covered in Sheridan linen, yes please). Andrew and Carolyn have got you covered with a range of breakfast provisions- a range of cereals and oats, jams, orange juice, all the big brekky items (fresh eggs, mushys, tomatoes and bacon) and even coffee pods so you can espresso-yourself. By now you can probably tell why I wanted to move in and never leave.

We honestly loved our stay in Bed in a Shed Too– our only complaint was that we didn’t stay for long enough. The service leading up to and during our stay was brilliant, the shed itself was luxurious my idea of the PERFECT accommodation and the location was ace- right in the middle of all the best wineries and eateries, but tucked away enough that you feel like you’re an hour out of town. We are already planning our next trip back with friends- we are just getting first dibs on that front room.

You can find and book Bed in a Shed Too here. They also have the original and big sister bed and breakfast, Bed in a Shed, hidden away next door that sleeps two.

***We were treated to a reduced rate at Bed in a Shed Too when we stayed the night in Clare. Even though this was the case, we couldn’t rave on enough about our stay and would recommend it to everyone. I’m calling it as my favourite bed and breakfast we have stayed in.***
