okay so it’s not winter anymore and I am a little bit behind the 8 ball.
blog wise. brain wise. organising wise.

a few months ago when it actually was winter, the other half and I rugged up, headed to the city with the City Brief: Winter Edition in one hand and a coffee in the other.

we found a incredible new coffee haunt (and re visited a oldie but a goodie), browsed the shelves at a store that sells the most delicate and locally made ceramics and did our weekly vegetable shop at one of the best markets going around. we are so lucky here in Adelaide to have such awesome places on our doorstep, and I love how this guide spreads the word.

anyhoo, less chat more favourites- here’s a quick wind up of my picks from the City Brief: Winter edition.

caffeine hit at:

exchange specialty coffee

this beauty got a mention in the last city brief and there’s no question why. it is the perfect stop for a on-the-run coffee or the best place for lunch with friends, copious lattes or pastries galore. grab a seat by the glass windows, people watch in the east end and feast on tasty delights like slow braised boston beans and pancetta and avocado filled sandwiches. good luck trying to leave without a almond croissant that sits on the bench teasing you to take him home.

larry and ladd

if you love brownies, coffee and toasted sandwiches then chuck this beauty in your google maps and go. you’ll find it in regent arcade, with plenty of long tables to share laughs with friends, a quality long black and a snickers or caramel brownie (um, YUM). it has a indie and downtown vibe that’s jazzed up with bright street art style paintings, copper and metallic fittings and industrial lighting overhead. do yourself a favour and sink your chops into a ham and sweet mustard pickle toastie- it is incredible.

meet Adelaide’s movers and shakers at:

council of objects

tucked away in ebenzer place, council of objects is beautiful space filled with locally made products that will leave you feeling creative, inspired and wanting to buy everything on the shelves. here you’ll find handmade cards and prints sourced from local Adelaide artists like emma kate co, wooden furniture made with heart by hunt furniture and daniel guest and incredible ceramics by stephanie james-manattan just to name a few. this is the perfect place to stop in if your after a gift for a friend or yourself, or just want to support a local designer. i’ll take one of everything thanks + 3 of the linen tea towels.

feel fresh at:

adelaide central markets

my favourite place to shop in the whole of Adelaide. the food is fresh, the produce is locally sourced and the vibe is like no other. if you are looking for small goods and cheeses to fill a picnic basket or are just keen to fill the granny trolley full of vegetables for the family then get your bottom here. my favourite stops at the markets? michaels for fruit and veg, comida catering co for incredible espressos and spanish cuisine, big table for salads and apple cakes and goodies and grains for all things healthy. if your after a bargain then visit near closing time- but bring some patience and running shoes because it can get crazy!

a taste of everything at:

goodwood road

one of Adelaide’s sweetest places to hang out with plenty of things to eat, things to do and just pretty stuff to look at. if your feeling hungry then you need to check out trouble and strife or gingers. they both do fantastic coffee, trouble and strife make a mean smashed arvo and gingers- well look no further than their juicy burgers! there’s a sushi joint, homewares stores, a patisserie cafe (whisk cakes have my heart) and even a library if your after a good read. night times are best spent watching a movie and raiding the candy bar at capri theatre and finishing up eating your body weight in dessert at eggless. and that is just the short list.

where’s your favourite hangout in winter? I’d love to know.. x
