It’s well known by my nearest and dearest that I am a lover of tea. No offence coffee, I still love you to. There is so many types of tea available these days that there is so much more to a brew than a Lipton black tea with milk. Oolong, green, florals- the list goes on.
I feel that tea never gets as much attention as coffee. and I think that needs to change. so tea lovers unite, i’ve compiled a list of my favourite tea houses and local tea suppliers so when your feeling like a change from coffee you can hit one of these places up or order online, grab a pot for one and savour every minute of it.
A general store of sorts come cosy tea room that sells a variety of teas, excellent coffee and delicious vegetarian meals and sweets. I could go on about this place for ages (& will do in a separate post), but lets get back to the tea. Think oolongs, chai and green tea to name a few. Sip on one of these with a pastry on the side and take in the old artwork, marble tables and cinema and church chairs that surround you.

Based in Port Willunga in Southern Adelaide, these teas are available to buy in selected stores in Adelaide and every Saturday at the Willunga Farmers Market. They sell both loose leaf and bags in a variety of flavours. My personal favourites are the sleepy tea and the apple crumble- its like dessert without the calories.

A very popular South Australian tea which has grown significantly since it first started, now boasting a whopping 120 blends. But one thing about it still remains; it is still family owned. Their blends cater for everyone- for those who need a pick me up, to those who drink tea just before bedtime or every something to “get you in the mood”. You’ll find them at Gouger st, Rundle place and Flinders Centre. They to have plenty of tea related wares and even gift boxes (my grandma got one for xmas and she loved it.) My personal favourites- Peppermint, Apple Oolong and Nigh-t.
The Perfect Cup is based at 4 different locations Adelaide, there’s bound to be one close to home. They sell a huge selection of teas by the gram so you can have as little or as much as you like (I’ve even ordered enough for 4 cups of tea so I can try a heap of them). Selling only the highest grade teas in a variety of types from green to peoke they should cater to your every tea need. They also stock a variety of tea making equipment and have a online store for those who are to busy to attend the shops.

Whether you are looking for a traditional tea or something a bit different then there’s no doubt they cover it (think detox teas, immunity and sleep teas to name a few). These tea lovers have even created a range that’s tailored for women- including pregnancy, those trying to conceive and going through menopause. My favourite is the calming blend- a combination of chamomile, peppermint, lemon balm and lavender.

They have a great selection of teas and tisanes with incredible flavour combinations- think lemon myrtle, earl gray, oolong and red earth chai. I have only tried the one but can’t wait to get stuck into the others. My pick- Up & At Em: a mix of lemon myrtle, spearmint, eucalyptus, yerba mate, elderflower, calendula, orange peel and rosehip shells. An absolute mouthful such a delightful little brew.

One of my favourite teas which have sadly stopped producing until further notice. They had an excellent range of teas including green tea, flowering teas and even lychee oolong tea. According to one of the lads that runs it they are undertaking re-branding, so lets hope that they are going to start up again in the near future.
