I’m passionate about what’s in my backyard.
(not literally, my backyard’s full of weeds and swooping birds).
but I am passionate about the Fleurieu Peninsula.

as most of you would’ve picked up, the largest portion of this blog has a strong focus on the Fleurieu- because let’s face it, this area is truly beautiful + still takes my breath away. one other thing that I am super passionate about is supporting local businesses, so to be able to buy something that’s made in this whimscal region and sold by a small business ticks all my boxes.

that’s why I’ve put together a list of 10 of my favourite things on the Fleurieu that would make the perfect gifts for christmas this year. Got something I should add to the list? I’d love to know- flick it in the comments.

HAPPY SHOPPING!

They come in three sizes: a 30 and 60 hour burn glass and ‘fragrance of the now’ 5-15 hour travel tin, perfect for those who are taking the silly season on the road. Chloe’s also done a recent collaboration with of dreamers and dancers and stocks two dreamy candles in stunning black + white tumblers with copper lids- so very luxe! concrete planters from repurposed wares:

if your after a gift that’s practical and stylish, then look no further than a concrete planter from Repurposed Wares. Rob makes these plants by hand in Carrickalinga sourcing succulents to fill these beauties from local nurseries and backyards on the Fleurieu. even better, they start from only $20. If your after something other than concrete planters Rob makes beautiful bespoke furniture, aerosol animal wall art on plywood and cracking herb planters and pallet wood and turf stools- perfect for the summer in the backyard. His products look a million bucks and make you feel it to- since you’re recycling + saving the environment at the same time.

liquid gold from the McLaren Vale Wine Region

when it comes to wine in Mclaren Vale the options are endless. whether your after a bottle to take to Christmas dinner or wanting to give a vino as a gift then you really are spoilt for choice. some of my favourite labels at the moment are Battle of Bodsworth, Hither & Yon, Fox Creek Wines, Down The Rabbit Hole and Alpha Box & Dice. If you’d rather make friends with beer than snap up a slab of the best from The Smiling Samoyed, Goodiesons Brewery and the Vale. to find your nearest local check out the attached websites, independent bottle shops or their cellar doors on the Fleurieu. because who wouldn’t love a bottle of wine or beer? note: if they don’t send it my way!

giving the gift of good health- salt yoga and fleurieu yoga

if your after a yoga haven in the south then look no further than these two yoga studios- Fleurieu yoga in Aldinga and salt yoga in Christies Beach. from beginners to the experienced yogi they will cater to your every flexy need. classes at Fleurieu Yoga start from $15 for a casual visit and packs of 5 classes start from $60- there are expiry dates on them, but trust me once you get started you’ll use your 5 pack rather quickly. same goes at Salt Yoga, however you can buy a gift voucher for however much you’d like to spend, making it the perfect gift for every budget. Claire from salt yoga and Kristin from fleurieu yoga are lovely souls who will get you grounded and a converted yogi in no time.

giving you 10% off your every shop means it’s the gift that just keeps giving. a membership costs $40 and lasts for 12 months, which means if you’ll easily get your money back (or make someone else’s wallett very happy) after just a few shops. my favourite farmers market on the Fleurieu can be found every Saturday from 8am until 12.30 every Saturday at the bottom of high street in Willunga, boasting several stalls stocking everything from fresh produce, dairy and baked goods, sweets, hot and cold food and some of the best coffee known to man. a perfect gift for the foodie who loves to buy straight from the farmer and save money at the same time.

My ultimate picks are crackers and dried fruit from Port Willunga Fine Foods, relishes and chutneys from Spice Girlz, dips and pasta from Willunga Pasta, cheese from Kangarilla Creamery, Alexandrina Cheese Company and B.D Farm Paris Creek, healthy sweets from Smaller Apples, coffee beans from Dawn Patrol Coffee Roasters and a range of fruit and veg fresh from the Willunga Farmers Market. look the brands up online or make your way to the Willunga Farmers Market or Maxwells Grocery and stock up. there also the perfect addition for the christmas table.
