Big brunches, a cosy industrial interior and incredible staff.

There’s no doubt why this cafe is called Long Lost Friend– as soon as I walked through the doors I got that instant good-vibe feeling, that same feeling you get when you see your best mate after months of separation.

Tucked away on a street corner on bustling Magill Road, Long Lost Friend is a caffeine addict and all-day-breakfast lovers dream come true. As soon as you walk into the door you feel welcomed- the staff are super friendly and quick to find you a table. Even when they are super busy I’m happy to wait outside for a spot- now that’s a sign!

You’ll find yourself surrounded by greenery, timber and plenty of artwork. There’s a cake and sandwich cabinet sitting pride of place, right next to the coffee machine on timber cabinetry that can only be described as perfection.

In terms of coffee these guys have you well and truly covered. Their house blend “Bella” was smooth and well balanced- put a hold on that sugar. Both my piccolo and latte were devoured, making this girl very happy. They have their beans available for purchased, so devoted caffeine addicts can try and replicate the same thing at home.

Now let’s talk about the main event- the food. Indecisive people like myself will struggle- both the all day breakfast and lunch menu is long and filled with fabulous options. On this occasion I opted for dessert for breakfast, picking the Belgium Waffles off of their specials menu. My friend chose the Haloumi off of the lunch menu- I may have had some serious lunch envy.

My waffles were perfectly crisp, covered in a masses of rhubarb marscapone and sticky maple syrup. It was topped with crunchy macadamia nuts and a handful of Persian fairy floss, making it look just as beautiful as it tasted. My friend also devoured her Haloumi dish- with three kinds of mushrooms sauteed in Porchini butter on sourdough I knew she was in for a winner.

We couldn’t dare fit in another bite, but if we did we would have washed it down with a fresh juice or smoothie- their ‘Go Green’ and ‘Minty’ juices are the absolute bomb.

You can find Long Lost Friend at 523 Magill Road, Magill.
