12 of my favourite Fleurieu Coffee Haunts

Coffee is a staple in my diet these days so when I come across a decent cup of liquid gold I savour every minute (not before taking a photo of it though, sorry not sorry).

As I am forever finding myself on the Fleurieu Peninsula I’ve thrown together a list of some of my favourite places that whip up the best espresso’s, lattes and beans that the South has to offer, so when you visit you can to can indulge in a heavenly brew. Oh and a bonus? Alot of the beans used in these businesses are roasted here in the region. Win win.

Without further ado, and in no particular order, I give you 12 of my fav Fleurieu coffee haunts.

21 Junk Street, 84 Main Street, Yankalilla

If you are a true coffee lover and find yourself this far south then a trip to 21 Junk Street really is a given. Every time you’ll be greeted with big smiles, vintage furniture and chairs you will want to sink in and never leave- if you have the time do yourself a favour and lap it up. They make a mean latte as well as killer toasties and cakes, and even sell recycled furniture so you may even leave with a new addition for the home.

From Humble Grounds, Willunga Farmers Market, Willunga

This little coffee cart holds a huge place in my heart- it’s run by the sweetest of people and I’ve never had a bad coffee from here. Ever. Every Saturday you will find Rebecca, Rob and the team tucked away in the Willunga Farmers Market dishing out the best brews from locally roasted beans. They are all served in takeaway cups but the stand is surrounded by plenty of milk crates and brightly coloured seating for those who want a break from the hustle of the market. This is where you will find the locals, the cutest dogs (sometimes even a wallaby, I’m not even joking) and anyone who likes to dabble in superb beverages. On hot days they also stock iced coffees- perfect!

The Green Room, 2 High Street, Willunga

Vegos, vegans and coffee lovers- if you find yourself in Willunga this is a must have on your foodie list. The Green Room is a casual affair, selling healthy and hearty breakfasts and lunches, as well as equally excellent coffees. It’s suited for families with a large outdoor area perfect for the little tackers, as well as a huge indoor and patio seating area out the front. They also stock insanely good (and healthy) cakes that go perfectly with a coffee, as well as delicious pancakes that you must try!

Dawn Patrol Coffee Roasters, Days Road, Kangarilla

A cellar door with a twist- this one’s all about coffee. Tastings of espresso and filter, the boys at Dawn Patrol will give you a whole new coffee experience that will excite even the most experienced coffee drinker. The cellar door is at the rear of their property and is filled with ample seating indoor and out where you can enjoy a brew and a range of homemade sweets (the waffles and the cheesecake are to die for). They also do takeaway but I’ll guarantee when you get there you will want to make yourself at home.

The Fleurieu Pantry + Store, 20 Gawler Street, Port Noarlunga

Health conscious foodies unite. If you’re looking for incredible food, ethical products and coffee in beautiful cups then get to The Fleurieu Pantry in Port Noarlunga. The new addition, The Pantry, is located next to the pantry and is filled to the brim with organic fruit and veg, superfood everything and ready made meals that will make you quit cooking dinners on weeknights. They are all about supporting local, which includes using Villere coffee that’s roasted on the Fleurieu.

Viscous Coffee, 27A Beach Road, Christies Beach

Specialty beans roasted in house, a range of brews that will blow your mind and all run by a man who is incredibly dedicated to his art. The perfect place for coffee connoisseurs and those who just love a perfect latte.  It offers a small and intimate space for ‘drinking in’, but in my opinion its best ordered takeaway to be enjoyed beach side or the nearby park. If you’re feeling like straying away from the usual latte then try his different concoction’s or a very mean Cold drip.

The Golden Fleece Café, Shop 1/30 High Street, Willunga

Boasting a warm and comforting interior with infectiously happy personalities behind the counter, The Golden Fleece is surrounded by the likes of Four Winds Chocolate and The Spock Sisters. The fleece is packed on the weekends, with everyone from lycra clad cyclists to visitors from the markets. Their coffees are strong, the breakfasts are massive (and affordable) and they have a mean cake selection. The best spot is out the front with a large coffee in hand- perfect for people watching.

Maxwells Grocery, 11 Old Coach Road, Aldinga

Organic, community minded and a true hidden gem. Maxwells grocery sits along side some new and exciting ventures (Miss Gladys, Roseys + Home grain Bakery to name a few) that are putting Aldinga back on the map. This café come providore has Villere beans running through their machines and serves their bevvys in the cutest of cups alongside a mean chai seed pudding, wakefield grange burgers and a raw cakes donned with violets. A must visit for foodies!

Jetty Food Store, 42 North Terrace, Port Elliot

If local produce, artisan products and good coffee are your thing then you have yourself a winner. Jetty Food Store is filled to the brim with organic fruit and vegetables sourced from local farmers, as well as plenty of other products from the region. They offer a small selection of food to eat in store that go down perfectly with their coffee- think a homemade zesty lemon slice that will appeal to every sweet lover. Save up your weekly veggie shop and come down here, when you taste their produce you will struggle to go back to the supermarket.

Roseys Cafe, 206 Port Road, Aldinga

Unley Roads favourite coffee haunt has moved into Aldinga and locals couldn’t be more excited. Rosey’s Cafe dishes out the most incredible coffees along side a huge breakfast and lunch menu. If long brunches are your thing then you will not be disappointed. Experienced baristas will make your coffee so well that you won’t even think about spooning sugar in your cup- they have converted me that’s for sure! Rosey’s also has a large outdoor area perfect for kids and a varied menu catering for even the fussiest of eaters.

The Fleurieu Dish, 26 Victor Harbor Road, Mount Compass

Off to Victor? Well stop at Mount Compass- it’s filled with plenty of goodness like bakeries, gift shops, strawberry farms and then this little delight. The Fleurieu Dish gives you incredible service, tasty food at a very reasonable price and banging coffees. Oh, and a breathtaking view over green fields. Sounds like heaven, right?! Griffiths coffee is on the machine, with local Fleurieu Milk being used for lattes and cuppas. For those on the run they offer takeaway, but when you see the view you will want to stay.

Blessed Cheese, 150 Main Road, Mclaren Vale

Not just for cheese lovers, this cafe/cheese store is the perfect place to stop into for a pre-wine tour feast or long brekky with friends. The coffee here is great, and you will find yourself easily devouring 2 in one sitting. When it comes to food you have a huge selection- ploughmans platters, burgers and a large range of all day breakfasts. As for cheese- there’s a cabinet full that will be calling your name, perfect for the picnic basket to be enjoyed in the Vale.

Have you got a favourite Fleurieu coffee spot that’s not on the list? I would love to know what it is..
